Whilst Carioca can hold nearly 650l water that is a limiting factor on washing and showering on long offshore passages and restricts the ability to stay indefinitely at anchor. So we decided to by a Newport 400 Watermaker. Miraculously this converts sea water into drinking water
The Newport 400c is the most energy-efficient, automated, and easy-to-use watermaker available. It operates on as little as 4 watts per litre, making it possible to run the system on our small generator and hopefully our newly installed solar system. Multi-speed capacity allows the machine to operate on high mode for maximum product flow or low mode for maximum efficiency, making it ideal for onboard power management. Stated production is a massive 1500 litres a day or 64 litres an hour.
